Beards can be unruly. Without a proper beard care routine you’ll look more like a hobo (which is fine if that’s what you are going for, you be you!) rather than the dashing gentleman that you are. There are multitudes of beard styles you can sport all throughout the year. Every single one of them needs to be tamed. Also, when talking about beards we need to talk about skin, even though beards help protect the skin from the sun and other unfriendly elements, it is common for ingrown hairs to appear and for dry skin below the follicles to get dry, itchy, and even infected.

That is why a good beard balm and wash are of utmost importance- here we list 5 steps you can take to keep your beard clean, strong, styled and over all, healthy:
Step 1: Take a shower (bath)
Make sure to at least rinse your beard with hot water on a daily basis. This helps give you a clean beard to work with while preserving the natural moisture of your skin.
Make sure to dry your beard thoroughly before applying beard balm in order to allow it to absorb into your hair and skin fully. Brush at least once or twice a week.
Step 2: Apply balm
Apply a small dollop of beard balm on your palm by scraping it with the tip of your nail. A small amount goes a long way.
Step 3: Take balm to the beard
Apply gently into beard and style into desired shape. Move your hands to the chin to the waist. If parts of your beard are still dry, use some more balm. When the bottom part of your beard is moisturised sufficiently, work the balm through your sideburns and work down. Make sure to massage it into your skin. Massaging the skin will help with the development of your hair follicles.
Step 4: Use a brush or comb
Depending on the length of your beard. use a handmade beard comb or brush – preferably with natural bristles.
Step 5: Rinse again
Rinse the oil in your Beard with warm water before going to bed at night. Do it all over again when you wake up.
You’ll see your Beard steadily getting softer.
